Closing in on the finish line…

Bill

What an amazing few weeks it has been…every time I come home from a business trip I’m surprised to see tons of progress toward our dream. It is so fun to see it come together and now it really feels like the end is in sight.

This past week the exterior of the house was completed, all the ruined siding replaced and everything got a good thick coat of paint. The grass is growing in well and when the sun came out this morning it looked like a brand new house! Check out this before and after shot and note how awesome the entry looks...no overgrown bushes and trees covering porch, black shutters, sharp white arches over garage doors, beautiful new door!

And from another angle:

That awesome door we installed last spring is now finally surrounded with siding once again which has been painted to match the rest of the house.

Shelly had the header painted with the main color to help the arch stand out, echoing the door beneath it. The entire header used to be white but now it looks sharp!

Even the shed has been transformed with a thick coat of paint, no longer an ugly grey weathered eyesore.

I got to roll up my sleeves and install the exterior lighting over the past few weekends, replacing the old brass fixtures with some nice black large carriage lanterns that fit the style of the house much better.

I also got to work replacing a bunch of old style switches inside with brand new decor style switches throughout the house, and finished hooking up all the new plugs in the expanded family area.

I was most excited this week about getting a bathroom downstairs again! Todd and crew were able to get the vanity and toilet installed, so we now have running water and a toilet downstairs, the first time in 6 months! :)

I love the faucets Shelly picked for the bathrooms.

And the matching lights.

The furniture style vanity adds a ton of style, a light gray to add subtle contrast to the white shiplap and tile walls.

Todd told me this weekend that he expects the kitchen and guest bathroom will be done this week, which leaves only the master bathroom the week after! I’m so excited to get our countertops is Monday and see those appliances installed and working! Stay tuned next week for the big kitchen reveal! Until then, enjoy this shot of our beautiful back yard before with the last vestiges of summer before the rains begin!
